History of Oasis of Love An Oasis is a sanctuary in the desert, a place where precious water flows from the bosom of dry land. It is a life-saving place of refuge to wayfarers in the vast wasteland of the desert. In 1995, Bro. Nonito *Dodong* and Sis. Diana *Dianne* Limchua*s search for the oasis in their lives led them to attend the Oasis of Love-Manila Catholic Life in the Spirit Seminar. God in His infinite Love and Mercy, showed them that the oasis they were looking for could only be found by shepherding the Oasis of Love Outreach-Cebu, the sister community of the Oasis of Love-Manila. What started out as the first Oasis of Love-Cebu seminar or the Catholic Life in the spirit seminar (CLSS) at the USC Retreat House on August 4, 5, and 6, 1995 with only 46 participants has now grown to a staggering number of thousands with every CLSS, surpassing each batch numbers over the years. From the start, the Holy Spirit, from whom the community*s name is derived, has been pouring His gifts of love, healing and evangelization to the Oasis of Love Family. The second, third, fourth/fifth Wednesdays brought the Oasis Family together to the Sacred Heart for Boys Gym (now Sacred Heart School-Jesuits) for regular prayer meetings. With the leadership of His Eminence, Ricardo J. Cardinal Vidal, the community's Spiritual Directors, Archbishop Jose Palma, Bishop Julito Cortes, Bishop John Du, Msgr. Ezer Binghay, Msgr. Frederick Kriekenbeek, Rev. Fr. Lucas Inoc, Rev. Fr. Dondon Aquino, Rev. Fr. Dennis Villarojo, Rev. Fr. Joseph Tan, Rev. Fr. Joe Quilongquilong, Rev. Fr. Mar Balili, Rev. Fr. John Orat, Rev. Fr. Joseph Skelton and Bro. Socrates Fernandez, took turns in sharing the WORD OF GOD to the faithful. First Wednesdays of the month are dedicated to Healing Masses, while succeeding Wednesdays are devoted to regular prayer meetings. Growth Seminars also nourish the members in their quest not only for more of GOD and HIS WORD but for practical ways of day to day living. Aside from the quarterly Cebu CLSS, the Oasis calendar, is always filled with outreach LSS for Visayas, Mindanao, (Surigao City, Butuan, Mangagoy, Sta. Maria, Trento, Agusan del Sur, Patin-ay, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur, Davao City, etc.) Hong Kong, Holland. The most recent are the Department of Education (DEP-ED) outreaches given to superintendents, staff, public educators, and graduating national high school students. The seed planted in 1995 by the Limchua couple has finally grown into a tree. One of its fruits is the Evangelization Broadcasting arm, the CEBU CATHOLIC TELEVISION NETWORK (CCTN Channel 47). Showered by the HOLY TRIUNE GOD’S LOVE and covered by MOTHER MARY’ blue mantle of protection, the tree has continued to bear much fruit. Its fruits have been touching other people*s lives and bringing them closer to the WONDERFUL COUNSELOR, THE LORD ALMIGHTY.
